Welcome to ARC Toastmasters!
Scared of public speaking? Need to calm the butterflies fluttering in your stomach every time you stand up in front of a group? You can conquer that fear by participating in the Agriculture Research Center (ARC) Toastmasters Club in Beltsville.
- The Toastmasters program is designed to develop one's public speaking abilities. It is not done in a classroom and you do not receive a grade. Toastmasters' participants learn through practice and by studying and using the materials provided. Confidence in all aspects of public speaking, including prepared and impromptu speeches will be gained. Toastmasters' members learn fundamental skills, such as speech organization, use of gestures, body language, humor, vocal variety, use of props, and how to select topics and evaluate speeches. Additionally, new members receive guidance from mentors in a non-threatening friendly, supportive environment.
- Toastmasters enables you to communicate more effectively at work and at home. Toastmasters can improve performance in meeting the public, conducting meetings, interviewing for jobs, and solving problems. Conversation at home and social gatherings becomes more fun and productive.
Why not join this experienced, nurturing club and become a confident and poised communicator? Those fluttering butterflies in your stomach may not disappear entirely whenever you need to speak before a group or one-on-one to your boss, but at least you can get them flying in formation.
The ARC Toastmasters club invites you to join us in our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. to approximately 7 p.m. in Beltsville, Maryland.
Each meeting breaks for a short refreshment break so that you can meet and exchange ideas with your fellow Toastmasters.
The ARC Toastmasters was chartered in 1960. The club emphasizes a relaxed, mutually-supportive environment for its members to improve basic speaking skills.
